- a paradise for art lovers, for those interested in design and for garden enthusiasts

And anyone else for that matter! Carl Larsson himself thought that Sundborn resembled a French village and after a visit here it is easy to understand why the Larssons rarely left their beloved Sundborn.

Only a ten-minute drive from Falun, picturesque Sundborn, with its long and intriguing history, is a part of the Falun World Heritage Site. In the 16th and 17th centuries there were numerous copper smelteries along the Sundborn River, which meanders lazily through the village. The area is still brimming with life and these days you will find several craftspeople, an art gallery, antique shops, a home furnishing shop, a smithy, and a café and restaurant.
And don’t miss the popular church in Sundborn with its interior paintings by Carl Larsson. The portrait collection in the parish hall next door is also well worth seeing.
And there is more to Sundborn than art and design. There are beautiful lakes where you can fish and swim, canoe and bike trails, beautiful homesteader mansions, unique World Heritage environments and even a small golf course (pay and play).
Sundborn is ideal for a day-trip as well as a longer stay. Contact the tourist office in Falun (Falu Turistbyrå) if you need help in putting together your own Sundborn-Falun-Dalarna-package. They can give you information on everything from accommodation to canoe hire.
